The two cab drivers, the clerk, and Inspector Amar Najmi all gasp in disbelief.
“If the perpetrator had picked a more complex bomb, it wouldn’t have been so easy. You can buy a wind-up clock just about anywhere. Let’s stick with the clock. The alarm hand is what set off the explosives, correct?”
“Correct.”
“So, let’s say it’s two p.m. and I set the alarm for three, when will the bomb go off? At three a.m. – or at three p.m. the next day?”
“At three a.m., of course, an hour later.”
“Then how do you explain the fact that the bomb didn’t go off until thirteen hours after the witness saw it placed inside the locker?”
Inspector Amar scratches his head. “I can’t explain it.”
“That’s right. There’s no way to explain it, except to say that the night clerk, Midza Zorifah, is lying." You point your finger towards her. "She planted the bomb herself – at some time after three a.m.”
Inspector Amar quickly instructs his officers to detain her for further investigation. "That's a very brilliant and quick deduction there, sir!" he congratulates you.
You look at your watch - it is now almost 4 p.m. when both of you are back at the police station.

Suddenly, a few police officers rush into the headquarters followed by three ladies. The last police officer, who is escorting the ladies, approaches Inspector Amar Najmi and you nervously and introduces herself as Constable Raihanah Hayati.
"You don't have to be so formal, Raihanah." Inspector Amar Najmi teases her. He introduces you to Constable Raihanah. Then, she starts to explain the new case that has just been brought to the headquarters, together with the three lady suspects.
The murder victim was a bachelor named Meor Harraz. His body was discovered that morning in his own house, lying on the kitchen floor with a knife in his back. The murder weapon is one of his own kitchen knives, which had been taken from its usual resting place on the magnetic rack. It appeared that someone had stabbed Meor when his back was turned. According to Constable Raihanah who has investigated the scene of the crime, the absence of a struggle indicates that Meor knew the person who murdered him.
The three ladies are the prime suspects who may be involved in his murder. He was having intimate relationships with all three women at the time of his death, each one claiming to be Meor's real girlfriend. Hence, those three became the focus of an extensive murder investigation.
With Inspector Amar Najmi's authoritative permission, you follow Constable Raihanah into the investigation room where the first suspect, Khausar Jasni is held. Khausar works at a counter at a nearby fashion shop. She informs both of you that she had been seeing Meor for over a year, and was shocked to find out that there are other women in his life. According to Khausar, Meor had asked her to visit his house periodically during the day while he was gone for a business trip a week ago. Her main task was to water the plants and she confirms that she had done that same routine many times in the past. Meor had not called her while he was gone. However, he unexpectedly stopped by her workplace on May 1st to give her a present - a red silk scarf.
The next to enter is Dini Hazirah, who had met Meor the old-fashioned way - as his client. Meor worked as a tax collector and she had fallen for him to moment she laid eyes on him. She tells both of you she was absolutely convinced that Meor had loved her the most, and to prove it, Dini shows an emerald brooch he had given her a day before his murder. Meor had brought the brooch while in South America for a business trip, several days prior to his murder.
The third of Meor's girlfriends is Amrina Natasha, the only one of the three who is married. She also happens to be a city councilwoman. Yet, no one around her knew of her relationship with Meor. One interesting aspect of the case, which Natasha points out, is that originally, Meor was supposed to have returned from South America on April 30th, but his client needed more help than he had planned, so he did not return until May 1st - just one day before he was killed. Natasha confirms that Meor had been thinking about her during his trip, as she brings out a gold necklace which he had bought for her while he was away.
After listening to the three suspects, Constable Raihanah motions for you to follow her out of the investigation room to discuss the case privately.
"All three suspects swear that they did not know the other two were also having a relationship with Meor," she starts to wrinkle her eyebrows. "I don't think this case is easy to be solved."
Constable Raihanah figures that perhaps you should interview one of Meor's neighbours for more information about his daily activities or at least what he did before his murder. Constable Raihanah calls in Nazrin Nizamuddin, Meor’s nosy neighbour.
Nazrin, who lives next door to Meor, informs that Khausar had consistently dropped by Meor's house ever since he went for his business trip, up until April 30th. There was a post-delivery for Meor on the morning of May 1st but he had not returned from his trip so Nazrin signed it off on his behalf and left a small box in front of Meor's house door. Meor was back home that evening. Also, Nazrin saw Dini stopped by Meor's house in the afternoon of May 1st and again, in the evening of the same day shortly after Meor arrived home. Then, the next day, on May 2nd, Natasha came by in the evening to go out with her soon-to-be deceased boyfriend. After they walked out of Meor's house, Nazrin tells the both of you that he went to sleep, so he does not know what time they came back.

The new information from Nazrin Nizamuddin is extremely helpful as you now have more follow-up questions to ask the suspects. So, you and Constable Raihanah re-enter the investigation room with Khausar to continue your interrogation.
"Yes, what the nosy neighbour said is true," Khausar Jasni answers annoyingly. "I have the keys to Meor's house and I had promised him to water his plants daily. However, I didn't know he was coming back a day later than he had planned. I thought his business trip ended on April 30th, so I stopped going to his place after that day."
"I don't deny dropping at Meor's place twice on the same day - May 1st," Dini Hazirah confirms her alibi. "I do have the keys to his house. However, the first time I went there, I was just outside of his house dropping off a present for him in response to the emerald brooch he sent to me earlier. We only saw each other later that night, when we went out for a movie." She shows the ticket stubs for the movie to you.
"Both Meor and I went out to watch an evening movie on May 2nd," Amrina Natasha explains. "The movie was my treat, so I have the ticket stubs to prove. The movie ended at 9.30 p.m. and I immediately left Meor at his home after sending him back." Then, Natasha also admits she had left a message on Meor's answering machine the night before he came home.
Both you and Constable Raihanah get out of the room to take another break. Coincidentally, she is given the coroner's report and it is estimated that the time of Meor's death was between 8.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. From Natasha's statements, Meor was still alive until at least 9.30 p.m. last night, when the movie ended.
After given some thoughts, you have decided to pinpoint the main culprit of the murder of Meor Harraz based solely on all the conversational evidence they have already given. You have a strong reason to believe that one particular person in Meor's life had found out about at least one of the others. This is the motive of his murder, which is jealousy.
